ALL Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental Safety Department Signs Up 25 Employees for NCCCO Signalperson Certification Course

Dawes Goes Above and Beyond Requirements in New OSHA Crane Regulation

May 21, 2010-In 2009, the Safety Department of Dawes Rigging & Crane Rental committed 25 employees to a National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) Signalperson Certification course. Obtaining certification through the course will not only enhance the safety of Dawes’ employees and customers, but also will keep Dawes ahead of the crane industry’s new Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rule that will be in effect later this year. Currently, the new OSHA Regulation 1926.1400 for construction cranes and derricks does not require a NCCCO certification for signalmen. However, Dawes felt it was necessary go above and beyond the minimal OSHA signalperson training requirement to ensure a safe and productive working environment.

The NCCCO course is for those who will use hand and voice signals in crane operation. A candidate must pass both a written and practical examination in order to be certified. NCCCO Signalperson certification is valid for five (5) years.
